Sangamithra Iyer is a writer and licensed professional civil engineer whose work explores animals, environmental and social justice, and the entanglement of personal and planetary grief. Her essays have appeared in Conjunctions, Creative Nonfiction, Kenyon Review, and n+1, and she has received a Whiting Creative Nonfiction Grant and a Pushcart Prize. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Hunter College and served for years as an editor of Satya magazine.
